Insights (Youth FSP)
  • Served 35 unduplicated clients (n = 35) with 22 rollover clients from FY 18/19 and 13 new clients FY 19/20. In this third year of the program, six youth were able to successfully complete the Insights Program. Of the 14 total youth that ended the program this fiscal year, 43% were graduated successfully (resulting in their probation terminated and their court record sealed)

Criminal Justice

Assisted Outpatient Treatment (AOT) Program (Adults n=114, 80%; Older Adults n=8, 6%; TAY n=20, 14%), page 55:
  • For nights spent in jail, clients reported a decrease from baseline to reassessment during the period of July 1, 2019 – June 30, 2020. (At baseline clients reported an average of 5.46 nights spent in jail and at reassessment clients reported an average of 1.60 nights.)

Employment

Assisted Outpatient Treatment (AOT) Program (Adults n=114, 80%; Older Adults n=8, 6%; TAY n=20, 14%), page 55:
  • At baseline to reassessment, clients reported an increase in employment (full-time & part time). (At baseline, reported full-time employment increased from (n = 0, 0%) to reassessment at (n = 1, 1%) | Part-time employment also increased from baseline to reassessment from (n = 2, 2%) to (n = 3, 4%)) 
  • Secured benefits for 32 clients, types of benefits that were secured encompassed the following: Supplemental Security, Income (SSI), Medi-Cal, Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), general relief, and general medical benefits. ​

Hospitalization

Assisted Outpatient Treatment (AOT) Program (Adults n=114, 80%; Older Adults n=8, 6%; TAY n=20, 14%), page 55:
  • Clients reported a decrease in the average days spent in a psychiatric hospital from baseline to reassessment during the period of July 1, 2019 – June 30, 2020. (At baseline clients reported an average of 5.60 nights spent in a psychiatric hospital whereas at reassessment clients reported 1.76 nights)
  • During the time-period of July 1, 2019 – June 30, 2020, the program had 13 successful discharges where 11 clients were transferred to VCBH Adult Clinics and 2 other clients moved out of the county but were connected to services in their new county of residence. ​

Housing

Assisted Outpatient Treatment (AOT) Program (Adults n=114, 80%; Older Adults n=8, 6%; TAY n=20, 14%), page 55: 
  • Clients reported a decrease in nights homeless from baseline to reassessment during the period of July 1, 2019 – June 30, 2020 (Clients reported at baseline an average of 9.20 days spent homeless and at reassessment reported 7.64 nights)
  • During FY 19/20, VCBH AOT staff were successful in utilizing AOT funds to house 41 clients during 2019-2020
  • VCBH increased housing stock with the addition of seven family units for chronically homeless families and six senior housing units for homeless clients over 60 (page 141)

cALBHB/C supports the work of california's 59 local mental/ behavioral health boards and commissions by providing resources, training, and opportunities for communication and statewide advocacy.

Local boards are responsible for reviewing community mental health needs, services, facilities and special problems, and serve in an advisory capacity to local governing bodies and local mental/behavioral health directors per CA Welfare and Institutions Code 5604.2.
Donations are welcome. CALBHB/C is a nonprofit organization.
